How To Price Yourself As A Photograher

Are you tired of getting inquiries but freezing when it’s time to talk numbers? Have you been juggling photography as a side gig and now feel ready to turn it into your full-time passion?

Let’s face it – money is something many of us shy away from, but it’s time to confront it head-on. From figuring out the cost of doing business to deciding on your salary, pricing can feel overwhelming. The common question we hear is, “How much should I charge?” and the answer is always, “It depends.” But why? Because every business has unique expenses and salary goals.

That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our first-ever Pricing Workshop! It’s time to dive into the financial side of your business, the part many of us avoid but desperately need to master.

Join us for an engaging afternoon where we’ll cover everything from understanding your cost of business, salary expectations, pricing strategies, and, yes, finally answering, “How much should I charge as a photographer?”

This workshop is going to be hands-on and interactive. Bring your laptops, iPads, notebooks, phones, and all the chargers you’ll need. We’re not just talking theory—you’ll be doing the work right there, so you leave with clarity and a plan in hand. No more procrastinating. No more guessing. You’ll walk away with confidence, ready to take action.

We’re excited to have Natalie Scott, Certified Award-Winning Money Coach, joining us for Money Talks! She’ll share top money tips, guide you through the financial side of freelancing, and teach you how to confidently shoot your shot with clients. This is going to be fun, practical, and packed with real-world advice!

We’re starting on Saturday, October 12th, with support from one another because we’re in this together. Let’s finally tackle the money side of business and take your photography career to the next level!

This is an small workshop with limited availability so make sure you secure your space!

Organisers

The UK Black Femeale Photographers (UKBFTOG) community was created to help Black women find other Black women in the photography industry. The Photography industry is dominated by men, so it was extremely difficult to find individuals like ourselves, who can relate to our experiences as Black women. Being the only Black female photographer in the room of your peers can feel very lonely and intimidating but we no longer have to feel like this because of the UKBFTOG community. December 2022 marked 5 years since the UKBFTOG community was created by Jemella Ukaegbu and it is getting bigger and bigger.

Autograph Established in 1988, our mission is to champion the work of artists who use photography and film to highlight questions of race, representation, human rights and social justice.Through doing so, we invite people to explore the creative and critical power of visual representation in shaping our understanding of ourselves and of others. Every year we engage hundreds of thousands of people locally, nationally and globally at our gallery in London, digitally and through projects taking place in partner spaces
