Celebrating 60 Years of Notting Hill Carnival

Get ready to return to the vibrance of Carnival!

This year is extra special because we’re celebrating the 60th anniversary of Notting Hill Carnival — six decades of culture, creativity, music, resistance, joy and community.

To celebrate, UK Black Female Photographers (UKBFTOG) is bringing photographers together once again to experience Carnival through our lenses.

After the magic of our 2024 Carnival Photowalk, where 30 photographers came together to build confidence, share inspiration and fall in love with street photography all over again, we’re doing it again! 📸💜

 

 

What Can You Expect?

Our Carnival Photowalk is about much more than taking photographs.

Throughout the day, you’ll have the opportunity to:

📸 Capture the energy of Carnival
Photograph the incredible colours, costumes, characters, movement and atmosphere of Notting Hill Carnival.

🤝 Build confidence together
Street photography can feel intimidating, especially when approaching people for photographs. However, you’ll have a community around you to encourage and support you.

✨ Reignite your creativity
Whether you’ve been photographing for years or you’re trying street photography for the first time, this is a chance to experiment and see where your creativity takes you.

👩🏾‍🤝‍👩🏾 Meet other Black female photographers
Most importantly, you’ll be surrounded by photographers who understand the joy, challenges and journey of creating as a Black woman.

Last year’s experience showed us that the Photowalk is about so much more than the photographs.

It’s about confidence, connection and courage.

You might arrive not knowing anyone. However, you’ll be walking alongside a group of photographers who have come together for the same reason: to create, connect and enjoy Carnival.

At UKBFTOG, we’ve got each other’s backs. We laugh, dance, eat, connect and, of course, shoot together. That’s what makes our community so special.

Don’t worry — most of us came alone too, and left with friends! 💛

So come as you are. Bring your camera, bring your creativity and bring your courage.

By the end of the day, you might leave with hundreds of photographs, some great memories and, hopefully, a few new friends along the way.

Just like previous years, the UKBFTOG Carnival Photowalk is free to attend.

This year, however, we’re introducing optional £5 and £10 community donation tickets for anyone who would like to support the work we do.

Your contribution helps us continue to:

✨ Create opportunities for Black female photographers
✨ Provide education, connection and support
✨ Build and maintain the UKBFTOG community
✨ Keep events like this accessible

Come along, connect, photograph and enjoy the day. 💜

£5 — Supporter Ticket
Attend for free while making a small contribution towards UKBFTOG.

£10 — Community Champion Ticket
Attend for free while making a little more contribution towards helping us continue our work.

There is no difference in access or experience between the tickets.

Can’t donate? That’s absolutely okay. Your presence, participation and support of the community are valuable too. 💜
