Carla

Cambridgeshire

I’m Carla, a wedding and portrait photographer based in Cambridgeshire, working across the UK and beyond.  I photograph people as they are, not as they think they should be. Most of the couples and clients I work with don’t love being in front of a camera, and that’s exactly why they come to me.  I keep things calm, simple, and unobtrusive so you can get on with your day. The result is a set of images that feel honest and easy to look back on, not staged or overworked.  For me, it’s always been about memory. I don’t have many photographs of myself growing up, and I know what that absence feels like. That’s what shapes how I work now.  If you want photographs that reflect your day as it actually felt, we’ll get along just fine.

My Story

I didn’t grow up surrounded by photographs of myself.  There are gaps. Whole periods of my life that are harder to picture now than they should be. That stayed with me, long before I ever thought about photography as a career.  When I picked up a camera, it wasn’t about creating something perfect. It was about paying attention. Noticing the small things most people miss – the way someone steadies themselves before walking into a room, a hand held a little tighter than usual, the quiet moments in between everything else.  That’s still how I work today.  I’m drawn to what’s real rather than what looks good on paper. The energy of a room, the rhythm of a day, the way people interact when they forget they’re being watched. Those are the moments that last.  My background in events means I understand how a day actually unfolds. I know when to step in, when to step back, and how to move around people without interrupting what’s happening.  Whether it’s a wedding, a celebration, or a portrait session, the aim is the same. To create a set of images that make sense years from now. Not because they were styled or directed, but because they reflect how it all felt to be there.
