UKBFTOG’S at Superman UK Fan Red Carpet Screening
Within a male dominated industry it’s of course easy to not see ourselves and one of the things we have really pushed over the years is giving our community members access and new opportunities, giving them experiences. One of our recent access opportunities was giving to one of our members Funmi , she specialises in Portrait & Event Photography.
We asked her a couple questions about her experience and here is what she had to say:
What was the most daunting part about doing press photography, especially if was your first time?
Securing a good spot in the photographer’s pit so that I could capture pictures without any obstructions. Also, getting my camera settings right before the celebrities hit the red carpet.
What did this experience do for you?
It taught me to pay attention to what’s going on around me as you never know when that split-second opportunity will present itself. I also enjoyed just going with the flow and making the most of my time there as It flies by so quickly.
What kit did you use?
Canon E0S 6D + 70-300mm lens
What advise would you give someone who has never done press photography before?
If you’re interested, go for it. It can be intimidating especially when you’re surrounded by people who have been doing it for years, but they were all beginners once. Remember that your style is unique to you, so stay true to that. It’s great for networking, building confidence and capturing great shots in a fast paced setting.
