Festival Of Photography Studio Takeover

We ended January 2026 by taking over the Festival of Photography studio, with two of our members providing some unforgettable workshops for the all the festival of photography attendees.

Let the take over begin!

The Classes

We ran 3 back to back workshops led by our members April Alexander and Jade Keshia Gordon of JKG Photography.

Classes were:

Mastering the studio One-light set-up with Jade

Lighting as a visual identity – using continuous light to build a a recognisable style through lighting choices with April

Branding, Marketing & the power of your headshot with Jade

Mastering One Light

When we all think about starting photography and getting a studio, the vision often starts with a big studio with the white curved wall. Jade was able to teach everyone how to keep it simple and how much they can do with one light, showing great example sparking conversation and making everyone realise what they can produce with one light.

Lighting As A Visual Identity – Using Continuous Light To Build A Recognisable Style Through Lighting Choices

Who knew you could create such striking images using continuous light? April showed us exactly how, guiding everyone through finding their own style starting with one light, then building up to two and three, even incorporating colour along the way. By the end, everyone walked away with a portfolio ready image and the confidence to take what they’d learned straight into their next session.

Branding, Marketing & The Power Of Your Headshot

As photographers, we’ve realised something funny, we’re often the first to run away from the camera, even though we’re always asking our clients to step in front of it. Over the years, as social media has grown, marketing and branding have become such an important part of standing out. That’s why Jade’s session really hit home. She inspired the whole room to take ownership of our branding and show up more confidently. She even wrapped things up by everyone stepping in for a headshot, finally taking that first step into being seen in our own marketing.
